How long have you been a teacher? I’ve been teaching for over 5 years.
How long have you been at your current school and what grade do you teach? I’ve been here for 5 years (not including completing my internship here too). I teach 7th grade math.
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you? My passion to help others led me to teaching. What continues to motivate me are the testimonies from my former students stating that I help them with math and how they did not like math at first, but that changed when they came to my class. I have some who state that I am still their favorite teacher to this day.
What was your reaction to winning the award? Shocked. Unaware. Oblivious.
What was the reaction of your class? They were shocked as well.
Have you been to Sky Zone before? If so, what was your experience like? I have not been to Sky Zone, but I look forward to going now!
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher? Student growth. Not growth academically only, but holistically. It is rewarding to see them develop different perspectives, make new friends, and make their families proud.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests? I am very active in church. I love playing the keyboard, reading books, and traveling.
