2025-26 April Teacher of the Month
This month’s teacher is Clarissa Pittelli from Ocean Bay Elementary School. She was a dance teacher earlier in her career. Read on to find out more about Mrs. Pittelli!
Teacher of the Month
How long have you been a teacher? I have been a school teacher for 11 years and was a dance teacher of young children prior to that.
How long have you been at your current school and what grade do you teach? I have been at Ocean Bay Elementary School in 1st grade for these 11 years. Always a dolphin! 🐬
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you? I chose to become a teacher when family members, friends, and parents of children I babysat for or taught dance to always commented on my love and patience with children. I am still motivated today when I hear from former students as they come back and visit or send loving notes. I enjoy seeing the growth and progress of my current students whether it’s social, emotional, or academic.
What was your reaction to winning the award? I had no idea that I was getting this award, so definitely surprised! I was very thankful that I had even been nominated.
What was the reaction of your class? My class was excited and began cheering, clapping, and jumping up and down.
Have you been to Sky Zone before? If so, what was your experience like? I have not been to Sky Zone yet, but my family and I are looking forward to making this a regular thing now that our son is old enough.
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher? I find that the most rewarding thing of being a teacher is the positive impact you can make on a child’s life. Being there for each student and finding out what it is that they need as an individual motivates me to build strong relationships with each of them.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests? I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and reading. Playing with my son and finding experiences to give him has been added to the top of that list!
Anything else you’d like to add? Thank you, Sky Zone, for this award! I appreciate the recognition and love that it allows families in our community to participate, too!
