2025-26 February Teacher of the Month
Congratulations to this month’s winner, Christopher Manemeit from Ten Oaks Middle School! He’s been teaching for 14 years starting out as a substitute teacher in college. His own kids happen to be Sky Flyers too!
Teacher of the Month
How long have you been a teacher? I have been a teacher for 14 years: 8 years in 6th grade math, 5 years in 4th grade and one year as a STEM teacher.
How long have you been at your current school and what grade do you teach? This is my first year at my current school, and I teach 6th grade math.
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you? When I was in college and did not really know what I wanted as a career, I began to substitute as a part time job. It was then I realized that I loved the classroom and wanted to teach for a living.
What was your reaction to winning the award? Total surprise! I was very honored that my students would think to nominate and vote for me.
What was the reaction of your class? They might have been even more excited than I was! It was fun to hear the cheers and see their expressions.
Have you been to Sky Zone before? If so, what was your experience like? Yes, a few times! It is always fun to go jumping with my kids. We have been for a couple of birthday parties as well and they are well organized. My daughter loves to jump into the foam cubes and off the high jump on the big air mattress, and my son loves the giant trampoline floor. They never want to leave!
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher? The most rewarding part of being a teacher is definitely helping a student reach that lightbulb, a-ha moment! Whenever I am able to help a student go from not knowing the material to being able to complete the work independently, I am reminded of why I became a teacher.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests? My absolute favorite thing to do is to play with my kids and watch them play sports. I also enjoy playing hockey and the bass guitar.
Anything else you’d like to add? Thank you so much Sky Zone for recognizing teachers and for providing kids with a fun and safe place to play!
