Teacher of the Month
How long have you been a teacher? I started teaching in the fall of 2000
How long have you been at your current school and what grade do you teach? I started teaching at Socastee High School in the fall of 2006.
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you? I have always been involved in music activities since I was a small child. When I went to college, I realized I wanted to share music in the same way that many had done for me.
What was your reaction to winning the award? I was so surprised and honored. It always feels nice to be seen for something you care so deeply about.
What was the reaction of your class? My class was so sweet, supportive, and so excited to get to spend some time at Sky Zone!
Have you been to Sky Zone before? If so, what was your experience like? Yes. I have an eight-year-old who loves a jump park! We can’t wait to go!
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher? The students that make every day better. They are live giving in so many ways and keep me young. I love getting the opportunity to pour into them every day.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests? Anything that includes my husband and son from shopping to trips to Disney.
Anything else you’d like to add? Thank you for recognizing teachers. We need support and to feel seen and appreciated. It is a challenging career at times and programs like this do make a difference.
