Tips for Staying Safe While Jumping at Sky Zone
Top Safety Tips for Your Next Sky Zone Visit
Visiting a trampoline playground offers an incredible way to stay active, have fun, and make lasting memories with friends and family. However, the thrill of bouncing high and trying new maneuvers comes with a responsibility to prioritize safety. Understanding and following the guidelines ensures that everyone can enjoy their time without unnecessary risks.
At Sky Zone, we are committed to providing a secure environment for all our guests. A safe trampoline playground experience starts before you even step onto the courts and continues throughout your entire visit. By familiarizing yourself with the rules and practicing spatial awareness, you can focus on the fun while keeping yourself and others protected.
Pre-Jumping Preparations
A safe trampoline playground visit begins the moment you walk through our doors. Taking care of a few essential steps ensures you are fully prepared for the activities ahead.
1. Complete Your Waivers
Every guest entering the activity zone must have a signed waiver on file. If a jumper is under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must provide their signature. Completing this step in advance can save you time at check-in.
2. Assess Your Health
Only participate if you are in good physical health. Guests with pre-existing injuries, particularly to the back, neck, or spine, or those with other physical restrictions, should consult a doctor before jumping.
3. Dress for Safety
Proper attire is a key component of trampoline safety. All guests must remove their street shoes and wear park-approved SkySocks, which provide the necessary grip to prevent slipping. Additionally, empty your pockets.
Remove all jewelry, watches, keys, belt buckles, and any other loose items that could cause injury or damage the equipment. If you have long hair, tie it back before heading to the courts.
4. Review Safety Materials
Take the time to watch the Sky Zone safety video and read the safety signs posted throughout the park. Knowing the rules in advance sets the foundation for a great visit.
Essential Safety Rules
Once you are ready to jump, following our core safety rules will help prevent accidents and collisions.
5. Stay in Your Comfort Zone
Never attempt any activity, flip, jump, or trick that exceeds your current skill level. Pushing beyond your capabilities increases the risk of injury. All flips and tricks are performed at your own risk.
6. One Person Per Trampoline
To prevent collisions, only one person should bounce on a single trampoline section at any given time. Sharing a single mat often leads to unpredictable bounces and accidental impacts. Avoid double-bouncing, which means you should never attempt to affect another jumper’s bounce in any way.
7. Maintain Awareness and Control
Always be aware of the people around you and give others plenty of space. Whenever possible, jump near individuals of a similar age and size. Maintain control of your body at all times, avoiding aggressive behavior, horseplay, or running on the courts and surrounding decking areas.
8. Keep the Courts Clear
If you need to rest, exit the court area completely. There is no sitting or lying down on the trampolines. Furthermore, never jump with anything in your mouth, including gum, candy, or food, to eliminate choking hazards.
Proper Technique and Maneuvers
Using the correct jumping techniques significantly reduces the chance of awkward landings and sprains.
9. Master the Basics
Before attempting any advanced aerial skills or flips, ensure you have mastered the fundamentals of single trampoline jumping. Build your foundation first. Always aim to bounce directly in the center of the trampoline mat, as this provides the most predictable and controlled rebound.
10. Land on Two Feet
The safest way to land is on both feet. Keep your knees slightly bent upon impact to absorb the shock and safely stop your bounce.
11. Protect Your Head and Neck
This is the most critical rule for preventing serious injuries: never land on your head or neck. If you feel yourself losing control mid-air, immediately tuck your body into a ball to protect your head and neck during the landing.
12. Limit Your Flips
If you are skilled enough to perform flips, do not attempt double flips or more than two single flips in a row. Over-rotating or losing spatial awareness during multiple flips can lead to dangerous landings.
